Daddy’s Home

What makes Hotdog special is what happened earlier. I had to run to the store, and as I pull up to the corner, I see him galloping at me from the diagonal-neighbor’s house (the one in which he hangs around, gets fed and groomed by the old lady that lives there). It’s dark and my headlights light up his eyes like yellow jewels bouncing across the street.

I got out to make sure he wasn’t under my car, because it looked as though he was coming up to say “whatsup,” and noodle his tail on my tires. I saw him about 10 feet behind my car, where he sat on the curb and looked at me.

I got back in the car and went to the store, and as I’m approaching that same corner on my way back, there’s Hotdog. Sitting in the exact same spot. The minute I saw him (or he, me), he turned on a dime and started sprinting towards our house because after all, Daddy’s home.

Hot Dog

Hot Dog loves his daddy.  He’s always waiting near the carport to say “hello” when Chris gets home.

Just Another Friday Night

Friday nights at our house generally involve a TGIF cocktail, some TiVo catch-up, and, for Chris, falling asleep on the couch at an unholy early hour.

Last night, Chris fell asleep with the dog, his guitar, a pack of cigarettes, and a few kitties. I was laughing so hard I could barely keep the camera still to get this photo.

Friday night

I love home :)

Say Hello to Beautiful ‘Daisy’

DaisyChristine, Daisy’s mom, says: I discovered “Daisy” on an animal rescue web site, and it was LOVE at first sight! I was depressed after the passing of my best feline friend “Prints” and “Daisy” came to my rescue. She has been a part of our family for almost 3 years now and she divides her time between spending quality time with my son and me.

DaisyDaisy

Look at that beautiful girl! Welcome to Crazy Kitties, Miss Daisy! Thanks so much to Christine for the adorable submission.

Fat Cat Foiled by Tight Doggie Door

A cat trying to slip through a stranger’s doggie door to nibble on a fellow feline’s food had apparently already had one snack too many and got stuck during the cat caper.

A worker at the Oregon Humane Society poses with the cat nicknamed “Goliath.” The stray cat, later nicknamed Goliath by staff members at the Oregon Humane Society, was brought to the shelter after the surprised homeowner wiggled him free.

“I heard quite a ruckus when I went into my garage,” said Jadwiga Drozdek of Gresham. “It was hilarious… I helped him out of the door and gave him a plate of food on the patio.”

The plate of food may not have been the best idea – the cat is already quite overweight, at 20.2 pounds. But it certainly helped calm him down.

Drozdek said the cat was very nice, but she couldn’t keep him since she already has six pet cats.

If “Goliath” is not claimed in three days, OHS will have him neutered and then he will be available for adoption a short time later.

“He will sure warm your lap this winter,” said Sharon Harmon, OHS executive director. “People with a king-sized bed would be a good fit for this cat.”

OHS also offered to send a free bag of low-calorie cat food home with Goliath when he leaves the shelter.

Thanks to SBT for sending along this story!
